In: DESIGN magazine has taken a behind the scenes look at "A Week in the Life of Susan Knof'. Come have a read and see how our Creative Director gets inspired.
The Interior Design Yearbook is specifically aimed at architects, interior designers, specifiers, contractors and key designers in the sector. The Interior Design Yearbook provides inspiring and original information on the trends of today and future innovations. It is a first class directory complimented by market predictions and expert analysis.
This year Creative Director, Susan Knof, contributed to the Yearbook discussing International Design.
Contributing designers have previously included Giorgio Armani, Tara Bernerd and Anouska Hempel, whose experience and insight into the interior design industry have proved invaluable to designers and suppliers alike.
Susan Knof summed up the project by saying ‘Above all, this penthouse scheme fulfils the client’s brief, providing a home with clever planning and an astute awareness of detail. But, more than that, the quality of the finishes, the balanced palette, the customised furnishings and an overriding commitment to considered designfuse together and culminate in a sophisticated and harmonious contemporary luxury penthouse.’ To read more about this project, see full details on the ARCHELLO website.

Layer upon layer of texture
One of the keys to pulling off a neutral design is using different textures. Think of a soft fluffy rug, paired with whitewashed wooden floors and a glossy table. You can take more risks when you’re narrowing down your colour scheme and allow the textures to create a strong visual impact. Textures are also great to avoid a neutral room from becoming too sterile. Using natural finishes such as wood and brick – either painted or left au naturel – can add warmth along with an industrial element. Interior designer Susan Knof of Knof Design shares “Neutrals for SS16 is all about the details and layers! Create an interesting composition with material variety; wool crepes, silk satin mix, floral lace, and delicate patterning. I would also include some subtle metallic embellishments, beaded detailing, exposed stitching, stud work patterning and free flowing tassels. To add interest I love getting inspired by the delicacy and details of the fashion world, Chloé is one of my all-time favourite fashion brands to look to.”

On Thursday, December 10th we had the honour of taking part in the London Design Summit. Creative Director, Susan Knof led a talk on Design Courage.
Design100 provides a platform of award programs across three continents. They have been created to celebrate that most elusive, yet essential ingredient that lifts our daily labours above the everyday. That ingredient is courage; courage to seek further, aim higher, work harder.
Every design100 award program acknowledges that we live in a marketplace where the quality of our design choices should be a mix of sound, commercial understanding and courageous, relevant design.
It’s why they equally acknowledge and award the important role played by both the creators and those who commissioned the project. Neither can exist without the other.
They celebrate their work and partnerships, opening communication between designers and the marketplace to help provide thought leadership on how design will shape the future.
KNOF design is incredibly grateful to have been allowed the opportunity to take part in this tremendous event and even more pleased to have won GOLD!
